Long Time Courting offers an extraordinary blend of neo-traditional music with Celtic and American roots. Exquisite vocal harmonies combine with the formidable instrumental prowess of Sarah Blair (fiddle), Ariel Friedman (cello), Shannon Heaton (flute), and Liz Simmons (guitar) to create music that is both playful and richly satisfying. The four women share a love of traditional Irish, Scottish and American folk music and have spent years immersed in these various traditional music scenes, and have toured with the likes of John Whelan, Aoife Clancy, John Doyle, Liz Carol, and Alasdair Fraser. Their traditional music chops combine with their updated sensibilities and compositional skills in a way that is seamlessly innovative and skillfully rendered.
